Heavy-duty connection for extreme demands.
Stud bolts – also known as screw bolts or waisted bolts – are high-strength connecting elements that are specially designed for use under thermal and mechanical continuous stress. Cold-tough or heat-resistant special materials are frequently used. At ASO Schrauben, you can obtain stud bolts with full shank according to DIN 2509 as well as screw bolts with waisted shank according to DIN 2510 in various dimensions or individually manufactured according to drawing.
Materials & Surfaces for the Highest Demands of Tension Bolts
The selection of the right material is crucial for the performance and service life of a stud bolt. Depending on the application, different metallic materials are used. Our stud bolts are available in various materials and coatings:
Steel plain / galvanized – cost-efficient & proven
Stainless steel A2 (V2A) / A4 (V4A) – for particularly humid, salty or aggressive environments
Black stud bolts – galvanically zinc-plated, burnished or phosphated
Special materials – e.g. heat-resistant steels or duplex steels
You can find an overview of all available materials on our separate material page
Specialist for special fasteners in pressure equipment construction
We offer you reliability in safety-critical applications.
A particular focus of ASO Schrauben is, among other things, the production of special fasteners for pressure equipment. Our connecting elements are used wherever maximum safety, material quality and manufacturing precision are required – for example in pressure vessels, flange connections, heat exchangers, valves or steam systems, in turbine construction and in classic mechanical engineering.
Thanks to many years of experience and modern manufacturing technologies, we produce screws according to drawings or special standard specifications – even from a quantity of 1!
Our production meets the strict requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) and relevant regulations such as AD 2000-Merkblatt W0. The corresponding certificates (e.g. 3.1 / 3.2 according to EN 10204) document the quality and traceability of our products – a clear added value for safety-critical applications.
Advantages of a stud bolt from ASO Schrauben
- Extensive warehouse with standard sizes immediately available
- Express production for short-term needs
- Certified quality according to DIN EN ISO 9001, AD W2000, QS system according to PED 2014/68/EU

Good to know: Stud bolts in detail
A stud bolt is a cylindrical screw without a head that is threaded at both ends. The middle area – the so-called shank – can be designed as a full shank or as a targeted waisted shank, depending on the requirement.
Stud bolts with waisted shank – manufactured according to DIN 2510 – enable a particularly uniform and permanent preload due to their targeted elastic deformation. This design is ideally suited for applications with high temperature changes or dynamic loads. The precisely manufactured waisted shank of our screws compensates for changing stresses caused by temperature and load. The constant preload force reliably protects the connection against settling processes and offers maximum safety during operation. Typical areas of application include steam turbines, internal combustion engines, high-pressure connections and plant construction.
For applications in which particularly high dimensional stability and a non-positive connection are required, stud bolts with full shank according to DIN 2509 are used. This version is particularly suitable for fixed, form-fitting screw connections in machine and apparatus engineering, with uniform load and lower temperature expansions.
We manufacture everything for you - whether according to European or international standard!
Our special fasteners are used where standard solutions are not suitable – for example, with high pressure, extreme temperatures, or aggressive media. Special fasteners made from special TÜV-certified raw material are often the only solution in the industry to reliably implement complex, safety-relevant applications.
Application areas of our stud bolts and their advantages
Stud bolts are typically used wherever screw connections are subject to high temperature loads or high-pressure applications – for example in steam turbines, internal combustion engines, high-pressure connections and plant construction (stud bolt waisted shank) or machine and apparatus engineering (stud bolt full shank).
Your advantages:
- Stud bolts in all common dimensions
- Materials for high-temperature and high-pressure applications
- Manufacture according to DIN 2509 and DIN 2510
- Special designs and technical advice
Our other types of fasteners
Special fasteners and custom screws can be manufactured in various designs and functional types. Our standard screw types include threaded rods and stud bolts, which are frequently used in pressure equipment or flange connections. Other variants include hexagon head screws, socket head cap screws, eye bolts, or special screws with specific thread forms. The combination of different head shapes, thread types, and materials results in highly specialized fasteners that are precisely tailored to your requirements.
