Forming is a central manufacturing process in the production of custom screws, special screws and fasteners. In contrast to machining, the material is plastically deformed without cutting, without material loss. Thread rolling in particular is an extremely economical and efficient forming process that ASO Schrauben uses specifically to implement high-strength and durable screw solutions.
Reliable fasteners through controlled forming processes
During thread rolling, the screw thread is formed into the material by pressure between rolling tools. The grain flow of the material follows the thread geometry, which leads to a significantly higher fatigue and tensile strength compared to cut threads. At the same time, very smooth surfaces are created, which improve the screwing-in behavior and reduce the notch effect – a decisive advantage for safety-relevant applications.
The forming technology is particularly suitable for medium to large quantities, but can also be used economically for custom screws with customer-specific dimensions. Thanks to the efficient use of materials, short production times and high process reliability, fasteners with consistently high quality can be manufactured.

For thread rolling as a forming technology at ASO Schrauben, a variety of common and high-strength materials are suitable, including unalloyed and alloyed steels, quenched and tempered steels and stainless steels. Adapted to the respective application, the fasteners can also be provided with functional surfaces, for example for corrosion protection, wear minimization or to improve assembly properties. As an experienced manufacturer of custom screws, we at ASO Schrauben process steel, stainless steel, aluminum as well as special and high-performance materials. This also allows complex screw geometries, special thread shapes, fits or functional surfaces to be implemented with high repeat accuracy and excellent surface quality.
Our fasteners types
Special screws can be designed in very different designs and functional types. Our common types include screw bolts with full & reduced shank, threaded rods and studs, which are often used in pressure equipment or flange connections.
